Hi, I’m Mal Sawin, the Founder of Lasting Legacies. I bring over five years of healthcare experience to my role as an end-of-life care specialist. My passion for this work is deeply personal—having cared for my aunt during her final days, I understand firsthand the emotional and practical challenges families face. In addition, as a nurse assistant, I support patients and families through end-of-life care, including during the COVID-19 pandemic. I have helped countless families navigate some of life’s most challenging moments with empathy and understanding.
At Lasting Legacies, I’m dedicated to providing personalized, compassionate care. I understand that every individual’s journey is unique, and I tailor my support to ensure that both the person transitioning and their loved ones feel seen, heard, and honored. My goal is to be a calming presence, guiding families through the uncertainties and overwhelming decisions that often accompany the end of life.
I take a holistic approach to care, recognizing that end-of-life support is about more than just medical needs—it’s about offering emotional and spiritual guidance, while helping families create legacies that celebrate and honor their loved ones. As an advocate for peaceful transitions, I work to ensure that my clients’ final wishes are respected, and that their families feel supported and at peace during each step of the journey.
With a deep respect for cultural traditions and individual preferences, I’m committed to ensuring that whatever rituals, ceremonies, or memorials hold meaning for my clients and their families are honored with dignity and care. I strive to be a steady hand in moments of loss, and a compassionate guide as families create lasting memories in their own way.
As an artist, I also incorporate creative outlets like art, memory-making, and storytelling into my work, offering unique ways for families to heal and preserve their loved ones’ legacies.
At Lasting Legacies, my mission is to provide not only comfort and care, but a sense of peace, clarity, and connection as individuals and families navigate life’s final chapter.
